The search for an 80-year-old ice fisherman missing since last week has ended in tragedy on Lake Champlain.

The body of James Hance, of St. Albans, was pulled from his submerged Toyota yesterday after two friends spotted the truck in about 7 feet of water,  under the ice, in LaPan’s Bay.

Family members and friends watched from the shore as divers recovered Hance’s body from the truck, which fell through the ice about 120 feet from the shore. Hance and the truck had disappeared Thursday when he failed to return home from a fishing trip.
