The jury in the Howard Godfrey murder trial should begin deliberations today into whether he killed a Stowe woman in 1991.

Closing arguments are expected this morning and then the jury will begin deliberations.

The 61-year-old Godfrey is charged with aggravated murder in the death of the 28-year-old Patricia Scoville.

Godfrey was charged with the killing in 2005 after DNA collected from her body was linked to him.

Vermont District Court Judge Dennis Pearson told jurors that if they don’t reach a verdict today they will be sequestered until they do.

In the final day of testimony yesterday, Godfrey’s attorneys only called one witness, a man who had been hiking in the area near where Scoville’s body was later found.
