Senator Bernie Sanders is an Independent. And he says he’ll stay that way, steering clear of endorsing either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic nomination for president.

Sanders says his role in the election won’t start until one of them wins the nomination, at which point he plans to help them in the general election campaign for the White House.

Sanders says: “Four more years of conservative government would be disastrous for this country.”

Sanders has taken campaign donations from Obama and Clinton, but says he’s staying out of the primary campaign.
