Senator Bernie Sanders says he’s helped obtain $400,000 for a new test-burn facility to train firefighters at Vermont Technical College in Randolph.

The money was included in an appropriations bill passed by Congress before the holidays. Sanders says it’s not enough to cover the entire cost of the building, but it’ll go a long way toward it.

Vermont Tech’s President Ty Handy, joined Sanders for a news conference yesterday in Randolph. He says the facility will create synergies with the college, which has a new associates degree program in Fire Science.
