U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders says Vermonters should be proud that Vermont is the only state President George W. Bush hasn’t visited in his nearly eight years in office.

During a news conference yesterday at his office, the independent senator said he knew he was being partisan, but the Bush administration has been a disaster.

Sanders says Bush doesn’t like Vermont, but maybe that’s a badget of honor the state can sustain.

Vermont Republican Party Chairman Rob Roper says Sanders’ remarks are "arrogant, condescending and obnoxious."
