Senator Bernie Sanders is hailing passage of an updated GI Bill, bringing more aid to veterans to attend college.
The measure provides $63 billion during the next 10 years — and an individual benefit of up to $90,000 per veteran — to allow people who have served since September 11, 2001, to attend college.
Sanders says the money should cover expenses of attending an in-state four-year public university in most cases.
He says it will more than double the veterans’ education aid currently available.
