A Vermont program that helps returning National Guard members get help readjusting to life in the United States is getting a big boost.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders says $3 million in federal funding will help the service members deal with brain injuries and post traumatic stress disorder.
Another $3 million will help expand the program to other states.
The money is included in a Department of Defense appropriations bill signed by President Bush.
The program began about a year ago. In addition to helping National Guard soldiers, it reaches out to service members from the Army reserve or active duty soldiers who have returned to civilian life.
