Vermont state Auditor Tom Salmon says he wants to move forward after pleading guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
During a court appearance yesterday in Barre, Salmon entered the plea and agreed to pay a fine of $500 and $376 in court costs. His license also has been suspended.
Salmon was stopped last month by police in Montpelier.
The 46-year-old Salmon admitted driving under the influence. He told the court he made a mistake and wants to take responsibility.
Salmon declined further comment after the hearing.
Salmon was elected auditor in 2006 as a Democrat. Earlier this year he switched parties and became a Republican.
