Rutland Pulls Park Benches Following Bad Teen Behavior

The city of Rutland has removed benches from a park after residents complained about teen behavior.

Mayor Christopher Louras said the teens are welcome at Depot Park – but their bad behavior is not.

He said even as the benches were being removed, there were groups walking by swearing at the park workers.

Some teens spoke out about the bench removal.

One teen said the park is a popular place to hang out. She said she knows there have been a few incidents in which teens were accused of drug activity.

She told WCAX-TV that taking away the benches will only cause the teens to act out even more.
