Roof collapses on Brattleboro auto parts store

A roof collapse in Brattleboro has officials warning people to clear snow and ice off roofs, or the same thing could happen to them.

Nobody was hurt yesterday when the roof of a Bond Auto Parts store collapsed under the weight of ice, snow and rainwater, wrecking some of the store’s inventory.

Brattleboro Fire Chief Michael Bucossi says store employees were lucky. He says there was about 10 inches of ice and snow on the building, with water backing up that increased the weight on the roof.

Store manager David Skibniowsky says workers saw the roof start to collapse and got out from under it.
