Rockingham Near Agreement on Electricity Distribution

The town of Rockingham and Green Mountain Power are close to an agreement on use of the community’s electric distribution system. The deal would enable Rockingham to transmit power from the Bellows Falls hydroelectric dam if it’s sold.

Under current planning, the Vermont Public Power Supply Authority would purchase the dam from U.S.-Gen New England for $72 million. The town in turn would become a member of the authority.

Having a way to transmit the energy is a crucial part of the sale. If Green Mountain Power and the town reach an understanding, it would be another large step toward the town and power authority acquiring the facility.
