River unaffected by gas leak

Contamination from an abandoned gas station in Barnet doesn’t appear to be spreading to the nearby Passumpsic River. An environmental firm hired by the state has been testing for contamination on the river’s banks and surface waters.

The leaking petroleum tank has been removed, and officials expect the contamination to dissipate over time. One nearby residential well has been contaminated, but it’s said to be unclear if that is due to pollution from the former gas station.
