A 21-year-old soldier from the Jonesville section of Richmond has died in Iraq.

Officials say Adam Muller was killed Monday when the Humvee he was in hit an improvised explosive device. The vehicle was at the tail end of a military convoy.

Muller graduated in 2004 from Mount Mansfield Union High School and went to Vermont Technical College before enlisting in the Army in 2006. He was serving as a gunner in Iraq.

He is survived by his wife, his parents and a sister. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Muller is the first Vermonter to die in Iraq since April.
