The town of Richmond will spend $25,000 for short-term repairs to a bridge closed last week.

The repairs would reopen one lane of the 80-year-old Bridge Street Bridge for up to 12 weeks. is disrupting traffic and business.

The bridge connects U.S. Route 2 to Huntington, Hinesburg and Cochran roads, and it carries six-thousand commuters a day. It was closed September 4 after an inspection revealed deterioration in its steel supports. The closure has disrupted traffic and hurt local businesses.

Selectboard member Erik Filkorn says every day the bridge is closed, it hurts town businesses. The Selectboard approved the temporary repairs last night.
