Rescuers in New Hampshire this afternoon found a hiker who had been missing since Saturday on Mount Lafayette.

The hiker was bundled in his sleeping bag with gloves on his feet and frostbite on his body.

Twenty-four-year-old Brian Gagnon separated from his two friends on Saturday during a whiteout. He had placed calls from his cell phone on Sunday. Searchers suspended their efforts that evening in the face of hurricane-force winds.

Rescue workers found signs of Gagnon about 10:35 this morning, finding a water bottle, baseball cap and ski poles. They followed footprints for a mile and found Gagnon about 12:20 this afternoon.

He was conscious and aboard a helicopter by 1:20 p.m. and en route to the hospital.
