(Host) Reports from Washington County also indicate that voter interest in this year’s election is very strong.

According to Montpelier City Clerk Charlotte Hoyt, roughly half of the city’s registered voters had cast their ballot by mid afternoon:

(Hoyt) “It’s been pretty steady we have about 1700 voters that have gone through right now. I think there’s a lot of races out there and it brings out the people.”

(Host) Hoyt also says nearly 25% of Montpelier’s voters requested an early ballot this year:

(Hoyt) “It’s more than we’ve ever had before it’s over 1100 that we sent out and we have close to that that have come back.”

(Host) Hoyt says voting in the Capital city has gone very smoothly today and she doesn’t anticipate any major problems before polls close this evening at 7 p.m.
