There are scores of small dams in Vermont, left over from the days when they harnessed water power to run mills. Some people find them aesthetically pleasing, but they do present safety and environmental problems. David Deed is the chair of the Vermont Dam Task Force.  Brian Fitzgerald is an ecologist and the Streamflow Protection Coordinator for the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.  They talk with VPR’s Steve Zind about efforts to remove small dams in Vermont.
