Relative of Governor employs undocumented immigrants

A dairy farm run by relatives of Vermont Governor Jim Douglas employs undocumented Mexican immigrants.

One of the farm owners, Ted Foster, says they began using immigrant labor four years ago after they were unable to attract enough reliable workers from the local labor pool.

Ted Foster is a cousin to Douglas’s wife Dorothy. Another owner of the farm is Dorothy Douglas’s brother.

Douglas says he has known for some time that the Foster Brothers Farm employed immigrant workers.

Douglas says he supports federal legislation to create a “guest worker” program that would allow foreign workers into the country to work on dairy farms.
