There’s been a lot of attention focused on St. Albans this week, and for our weekly regional report, a conversation with reporters and editors about what’s happening in their communities, VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb speask with St. Albans Messenger reporter Michelle Monroe.
The city held an election in Ward 5, a follow up to an earlier election, to put an end to a disputed Town Meeting Day result. In the end Ryan Doyle defeated incumbent Joe Luneau for a seat on the City Council, a result that backed up the first balloting, albeit by a larger margin than the first time around.
But it was the confusion over how the election was conducted, both initially and under a recount, that drew the most scrutiny.
