One of the success stories of the city of Burlington has been efforts to revitalize the waterfront. The site was once dominated by a rail yard, and is now a popular park, complete with boardwalk and vistas of Lake Champlain.

But at the northern end of the waterfront is the former Moran Power Plant, which has sat vacant since 1986. Plans have been hatched to find a use for the building, but the most recent effort was rejected by newly-elected mayor Miro Weinberger.

For our Friday Regional Report, VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb turns to Burlington Free Press Reporter Joel Banner Baird with an update on the project.
