The American Red Cross says there’s an urgent need for blood donations in New England. Doctor Mary O’Neill of the Red Cross’s New England Region says there’s less than one day’s supply of blood on the shelves. Some types of blood are being distributed only for emergency transfusions. The New England Region must collect a minimum of 1,400 units of blood a day to keep up with demand.
