(Host) Officials with the Vermont and New Hampshire Valley Red Cross are hoping a benefit concert this weekend will help make up for a budget shortfall.

Larry Crist is an executive with the local Red Cross.Crist says that because of an unprecedented number of emergencies this year, the regional chapter has exceeded the amount of funds allocated for this fiscal year.

He says that this weekend’s concert can help to get the organization back on track.

(Crist) "We believe that with continued generosity as we have experienced it up to the end of the fiscal year, that we will come very close to being able to cover our local costs with local contributions."

(Host) The concert, called "A Night of Hope", will be at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe. Proceeds will benefit flood victims in Vermont and in the south.
