Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Of “The Hemingses of Monticello” To Speak In Bennington

Law professor and historian Annette Gordon-Reed has written extensively about the intimate relationship between Thomas Jefferson and one of his slaves, Sally Hemings.

Gordon-Reed’s most recent book, "The Hemingses of Monticello" won a National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. 

Her biography of President Andrew Johnson is due out this fall.

VPR’s Neal Charnoff speaks with Gordon-Reed about her upcoming talk in Bennington "Presidents, Family and Culture: Rethinking History".

Annette Gordon Reed will be speaking at the Bennington Center for the Arts, Friday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m.

She will also read and sign books at the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, Saturday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m.
