(Host) Bills will rise for customers of Vermont’s largest electric utility.

The state Public Service Board approved raising rates for Central Vermont Public Service.

The increase is 4.8 percent.

So the monthly bill for a residential customer who uses 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity will increase almost $4 to $86.22.

CVPS says the rate increase was driven by new power contracts and investments in the company’s system.
