Prison Bosses To Switch Places

Gov. Peter Shumlin says the superintendents of two Vermont prisons are switching jobs as part of a move to relocate women inmates from a St. Albans facility.

Later this year, the state will move the women from the Northwest State Correctional Facility to the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington, and move the men from there to St. Albans. The idea is to cut down on recidivism by making more services available to the women and providing more beds and facilities for the men.

Now, their superintendents will be accompanying them.

Dave Turner, superintendent in St. Albans, will move to the South Burlington jail. Greg Hale, superintendent at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility, will move up to St. Albans.
