Priest abuse victims demand clergy indentification

Victims of priest sexual abuse want Vermont’s Roman Catholic Church to identify clergy who have been accused of abuse.

The victims also say the names of priests who have admitted to abusing parishioners should be posted on the Web site of the diocese.

Three men and a woman held a demonstration at the diocese offices in Burlington. It was organized by the national support group"Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests," which held its first support meeting in Burlington last night.

The group is urging other victims to come forward and get help.

The Survivors Network says 15 bishops nationwide have identified abusive priests, and some have posted names on church Web sites.

Bishop Salvator Matano says that with pending litigation, he’d be reluctant to post the information being sought on the Internet.
