(Host) The Preservation Trust of Vermont will be honored with an award next week by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Burlington-based non-profit was established in 1980 to help protect and restore Vermont buildings and downtown areas.

Valecia Crisafulli  is with the National Trust.

Crisaffuli says that in the last thirty years, the Preservation Trust of Vermont has evolved into a comprehensive organization that can serve as a template for preservation efforts across the country.

(Crisaffuli) "This preservation organization is a model in that it not only saves places but it revitalizes communities across Vermont."

(Host) Paul Bruhn is the Preservation Trust’s executive director.

He says the award is recognition not only of his organization, but of the many people who work with the trust year-round.

(Bruhn) "All the work that we take on in the end is a partnership between us and local organizations and communities that are working very hard to save and use their historic buildings & to strengthen their downtowns, village centers.

(Host)  Bruhn will accept the award at a ceremony next week in Austin, Texas.
