The lights are back on for many of the million-plus customers in the Northeast affected by a storm last week that dealt the region snow, rain and in some places hurricane-force winds.

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch calls restoration efforts "the most rapid" he’s ever seen. On Friday, about 360,000 homes and businesses in NH were without electricity – more than half the state. That was down to about 40,000 by yesterday.

In New York state, outages are down to about 43,600.

Service in Vermont has been restored to more than 91,000 affected customers.
