Power May Not Be Restored Until Friday

Around 4,600 Vermonters are still without power after high winds and a winter storm hit the state yesterday. And for some, it may be Friday morning before they come back online.

Central Vermont Public Service says Lincoln, East Middlebury and Bristol were the hardest hit towns.  Large trees brought down several power lines.

In Pownal, a transmission pole in a swamp burned last night and one-thousand customers are still without power there. CVPS expects to have power restored to Bennington and Rutland counties by the end of the day.

Over 600 Vermont Electric Cooperative customers are without power, especially in the Richmond and Huntington area. Crews hope to restore power by tonight.

Vermont Emergency Management says shelters will open again tonight if the need arises.
