Vermont state police say a sixth-grade teacher from Bradford has been charged with multiple felony sex crimes against a child.

Police say 51-year-old Richard Foster — a teacher at the Bradford Elementary School as of Friday — was charged Saturday and hospitalized yesterday after a suicide attempt.

Police say their investigation began Friday evening after they were informed of a report by a juvenile who formerly lived in Vermont to a police department in Florida.

Police say searches at Foster’s home and the school turned up evidence. Foster is facing several felony charges.
