Vermont State Police say a woman who reported being stopped and assaulted by a fake police officer says she made the story up.
Police say 25-year-old Ashley Martin of East Calais reported on Wednesday that an armed police impersonator stopped her on Route 15 in Morrisville and sexually assaulted her after she was ordered out of her car.
Authorities say in a follow-up interview on Tuesday Martin acknowledged fabricating the incident.
Martin will be arraigned on Wednesday on charges of making a false report to a law enforcement officer.
