Burlington police say a driver involved in a fatal crash on the city’s Beltline, killing himself and another driver had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
Authorities say 20-year-old Taylor McLaughlin of Colchester veered into the path of 30-year-old Michael Wagner of Colchester on Route 127 on January 10.
Burlington police said Tuesday that toxicology results show McLaughlin had THC, the chemical found in marijuana, in his system at levels that research shows substantially impairs driving.
Police also said they were unable to determine if any distractions contributed to the accident.
