Vermont State Police say a woman has been killed in St. Johnsbury and her estranged husband is a suspect in her death.
Police say 45-year-old Anna Berwick of St. Johnsbury was found unresponsive in the parking lot of the Green Mountain Mall on Monday shortly before 10 a.m. Police say she appeared to have died by a violent act but would not say how.
A short time later, police say 49-year-old Ben Berwick of Lyndon emerged from woods behind the mall with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He is listed in stable condition at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Police say the couple had separated and in December Anna Berwick had been granted a restraining order against him.
