(Host) Vermont State Police say their investigation into the whereabouts of a missing 12 year old is concentrating on a social networking Website.

Police continued their search today in the Randolph area, where the girl was last seen on Wednesday.

VPR’s Steve Zind reports.

(Zind) State Police Director Colonel James Baker declined to say what evidence has been uncovered, but he says authorities believe that 12 year old Brooke Bennett’s disappearance is tied to the online site "My Space" and perhaps to someone she met through the site.

(Baker) "This case is very much centered around and about social networking online. The primary focus of our investigation right now is taking a look at our ability to track that information."

(Zind) Baker says in addition to computer forensics experts, members of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit in Quantico, Virginia have joined the investigation.

Police today released a surveillance video from a Randolph convenience store. They’re asking for help identifying individuals in the video and for any information on the child’s movements on Wednesday morning.

A search Friday in nearby Brookfield failed to turn up any additional evidence.
