The Richmond Selectboard has voted not to accept the resignation of the town’s police chief.

The Burlington Free Press reports that after meeting in executive session for more than an hour on Tuesday, the board also announced that Selectboard member Mary Houle had stepped down as the board’s liason to the police department.

Last month, William "Joe" Miller, police chief since 1996, told the board that he planned to resign in December but did not say why. His notice came the same day he was evaluated by Houle.
