A Vermont man charged with leading police on a wild high-speed chase during which he rammed six police cruisers and continued to flee after being shot says he’s not guilty.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Davis, of Johnson, was being held on $100,000 bail Wednesday. The eight charges include three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon – the car he was driving.

He allegedly failed to stop for police on Interstate 89 on Tuesday, rammed three Vermont State Police cruisers as well as cruisers from Barre, Northfield and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say shots were fired at Davis on Vermont Route 14 by state 3 police troopers.

Davis was arrested in Williamstown, and pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
