Plan To Reopen Ski Area Hits Snag

Town officials in Dummerston say they want a more definitive site plan before signing off on a developer’s push to revive the Maple Valley Ski Area, which closed in 2001.

After two hours of discussion Tuesday night, the Dummerston Development Review Board asked the Maple Valley property owner to return next month in his bid for a conditional use permit to open the ski resort as a four-season recreation area.

Neighbors are concerned about noise from nighttime snow making at the resort, which is located about six miles north of Brattleboro.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that the board will reconvene its session on the permit request July 26.
