The town of Plainfield has voted to remove fluoride from its drinking water.

In a voice vote after a lengthy floor discussion on Tuesday residents voted in favor of the ban.

Supporters say they want to have the choice whether or not to ingest fluoride and don’t want to be forcefully medicated.

Fluoride advocates, including a representative of the Vermont Health Department, said there was no scientific evidence that fluoride in this quantity will have harm human health and that the Plainfield Health Center and American Dental Society support its use.
