Pine Ridge, a boarding school for students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, will be closing its doors in June after graduation.
The closure of the Williston school means 22 students will need to make other educational arrangements this fall. It will also put 20 people out of work.
Headmaster Dana Blackhurst says the closing is due primarily to the recession and a $1.6 million debt he inherited when he came to the school two years ago.
In January, the school laid off 16 people.
The school was founded in 1968. It’s unclear what will happen to the school’s 136-acre campus.
Blackhurst says he hopes a buyer will emerge and start a new school.
