An Indiana-based phone company has agreed to stop doing business in Vermont and make refunds to customers. Business Option Incorporated switch people to their long distance service without proper permission. The company also was found to have misrepresented itself in sales calls in Vermont, and neglected to meet requirements in notifying customers of rates and procedures.

Deena Frankel of the Department of Public Service says Business Options signed up only few hundred customers in Vermont. She says the state welcomes new competitors in the phone industry, but the new companies have to play by the rules.
