Paving program announces targeted roads

About 80 miles of Vermont’s roughest roads will be getting some extra attention this summer.

Two weeks ago Gov. Jim Douglas announced "Operation Smooth Ride” amid complaints that this was an unusually bad spring for potholes and frost heaves. And so he sought $3 million for extra paving projects.

Yesterday, the Agency of Transportation announced which road sections will share in the special money.

They range from a portion of Putney Road, in Brattleboro, to an eight-mile stretch of Vermont Route 108 between Fletcher and Enosburg.

Some of the others are Vermont Route 100 between Ludlow and Plymouth, Vermont 12A between Braintree and Granville and Vermont Route 15 between Essex and Underhill.
