Passenger plane makes emergency landing in Burlington

Frozen flaps on a U.S. Airways plane are thought to be the cause of an emergency landing at the Burlington International Airport. The passenger jet that was inbound from Washington landed without incident at about 5:30 Thursday afternoon.

An emergency was declared when the plane was about 20 miles out after the pilots reported the flaps wouldn’t extend.
Passengers say there were some anxious moments. Ron Regan of Burlington says passengers were told to prepare for an abnormal landing and instructed on how to brace themselves, but there were no problems.
