There is a sense of uncertainty about the fate of school budgets this year. Some communities are seeing increases in their school budgets. Even districts with small budget increases are seeing large increases in their tax rates.
Some communities are facing increases due to drops in their school population or because the state’s education financing law is forcing them to pay more to the state.
About 200 school districts are voting on their budgets this week. The other 68 vote later in the spring.
