Parents Protest Grade Consolidation Plan

A school district’s plan to consolidate some grades and put fourth graders in the same classroom as fifth and sixth graders has parents protesting.

On Monday, all but a handful of the 57 students at the Peacham School were kept home by their parents as part of an organized protest.

One parent told the Caledonian-Record that parents banded together because they believed it was the only way to get school board officials to listen to them.

Peacham School Board Chairwoman Jo Anne Post later told parents at a meeting it was wrong to "engage" their children over adult differences.
