A special panel studying whether Vermont should allow same-sex couples to marry has scheduled three public hearings for December.

The Vermont Commission on Family Recognition and Protection will meet December 5th — that’s a week from tonight — at the Brattleboro Middle School Activity Room.

Hearings also are set for Monday, December 10th at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and for Tuesday, December 18th at the Statehouse in Montpelier.

In each case, the commission will make a presentation on the history of Vermont’s civil unions law from 5 to 6 p.m., and then take testimony from the public from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
