One of the country’s leading advocates for a new approach to health care is bringing her expertise to Vermont tonight.

Dr. Dianne Meier is the director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and her talk will focus on ways that Palliative Care can reduce the suffering associated with many chronic illnesses.

Her free talk is sponsored by the Madison-Deane Initiative, an educational program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties. It will take place tonight at 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in South Burlington.

Dr. Meier says Palliative Care is sometimes misunderstood, but could revolutionize treatment for millions of people who are experiencing unnecessary amounts of pain and suffering.
