(Host) The owner of the Putney General Store hopes to reopen the business that was heavily damaged by fire over the weekend, but he says he doesn’t know how long it will take.

Erhan Oge met Monday with local officials, fire investigators and an insurance agent to try to come up with a rehabilitation plan for the structure.

The fire that broke out Saturday night destroyed the roof and the third floor of the building and caused heavy damage to the lower floors. Investigators have not determined what caused the fire.

The store was housed in a former grist mill. It has been operating as a store since 1843.

Putney officials say they don’t want to lose the historic building.
