A "torch" symbolizing the importance of organ and tissue donation will pass through Vermont’s capital.
The "Torch of Life" will be lit at the Statehouse today and then go to Montpelier High School, where students will carry it.
The event is organized by Step by Step, a national charitable organization that is out to raise awareness about the value of organ and tissue donation. It’s CEO is George Marcello, a liver transplant recipient who took up the organ donation cause after his life was saved.
A 10 a.m. news conference about the relay is planned at the Statehouse before the lighting and the torch carrying.
