Officials Travel To Indiana To Observe Guard Training

Vermont National Guard leaders and the state’s congressional delegation will travel to Indiana to observe soldiers training for their deployment to Afghanistan.

Vermont Adjutant General Michael Dubie will lead a delegation of Guard officials to Camp Atterbury today. They will be joined by chief of the National Guard Bureau, General Craig McKinley, and Sens. Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders as well as Congressman Peter Welch.

The group will observe training of Vermont’s infantry brigade  preparing for service in Afghanistan.

About 1,500 members of Vermont National Guard are being deployed.
