Vermont authorities are confirming the state’s first medically documented case of a date-rape drug. Recent tests show that a young woman tested positive for the date-rape drug GHB after having a drink at a Chittenden County bar three weeks ago.

Police say the unidentified woman became dizzy and experienced blackouts after having the drink. The victim recognized something was wrong and had someone drive her to Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Officials at the Women’s Rape Crisis Center in Burlington say that in recent years, many women have claimed to be victims of date-rape drugs. But they say the reports have come too late for the medical tests necessary for scientific confirmation.
